Margaret Hoeppner
Margaret Hoeppner is currently teaching cello privately and performing chamber music with colleagues. Her favorite activities include golfing, skiing, jogging, and cooking.
A native of Bozeman, Montana, Margaret began the cello at age ten. During high school she studied with Abrasha Bass, a former member of the New York Philharmonic. During summers she studied with Gabor Rejto at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara. She attended the Curtis Institute of Music where she studied with Leonard Rose and Orlando Cole. Margaret left Curtis to join the Symphony in 1961 and has been loving it ever since. She is a founding member of the Denver Baroque Ensemble. She served as cello instructor on the faculty of Colorado Women's College during the 1970’s. Margaret has performed extensively in chamber music concerts throughout Denver and Colorado. Margaret holds a masters degree in social work from DU and was on the faculty of University of Colorado Health Sciences Center for several years as well as having a private social work practice.
